Biomedical 3D Design Challenge (SPECIAL!!!)

The 3D Biomedical Design Challenge is very special in that it will have a real world impact, our model will potentially be put to use outside of the classroom

For our design we decided to make tweezers. We are designing these tweezers so they'll be easy to use and easy to reprint for doctors in other countries. Medical supplies in such countries are limited and can't be replaced easily; that's where our design comes in. As you can see there's only one major part to our design. If you print two of these, you'll have a complete pair of tweezers since both sides are identical. There's also a specific screw to go with it, so in total there is only two parts to print. The simpler the better.

This is the starting sketch for our project: to make a useable pair of forceps for doctors in other countries.

The finished product turned out to work rather well, the model itself is sturdy enough to be used over and over, and the simplistic design allows to it pick up other objects properly. These tweezers are so simple in design, easily accessible, and easily editable; any doctor can benefit from them. Even though the final product doesn't look exactly like the beginning sketch, I still consider this project an overall success.
